Outdoor Movie Party

My daughter Elliot's birthday is right before the fourth of the July which usually means we'd be outside barbecuing and gathering with family anyway, so last year when she turned 3, I thought it would be fun to add an outdoor movie to the mix!

My parents have a projector, so it was as easy as setting up a sheet against the shed and finding some speakers to plug into the dvd player. Unfortunately I didn't snap any pictures of the all of the movie set-up, but I did take a few of the spread.

I wanted it to have almost a carnival type feel to it, but without going too over the top!

I loved how it turned out!

And one of the birthday girl, just because she's so darn cute!

Fairy Princess Party

My daughter, Kennedy, (we all call her "Miss") turned five last year and when I asked her what kind of party she wanted, she couldn't decide between a fairy party or a princess party, so I said "Why don't we do both!"

I think the key to putting a great party together is to fully commit to whatever theme/color scheme/mood that you're going for! Have a clear idea of what that is and just go for it!

Party favors can add up quickly and with 12 girls I knew I had to get creative! The biggest pieces were going to be wings and the crown and since my daughter's birthday is in November, I hit up the dollar store in early October when I knew they would have fairy wings for Halloween!

The crowns are also from the dollar store. They came in a pack but said "Happy Birthday" on them. I wanted more of a "crown" feel, so I spray painted them silver and then sprinkled silver glitter on while the paint was still wet.

This party was so much fun to plan and I think the girls had a great time!
